Muirne Lydon, Paintings Conservator

Muirne qualified as a Paintings Conservator, following a Masters in Conservation of Fine Art at Northumbria University, post-graduate training at the conservation department of the National Gallery of Ireland and the Hamilton Kerr Institute, University of Cambridge.

Muirne has worked as an independent and contract paintings conservator, gaining substantial and varied experience working in both the public and private conservation sector. Muirne has restored a wide range of pictures from early medieval panels to modern twentieth century and is a member of a number of professional bodies, including the Institute for Conservation (ICON) and the Irish Professional Conservation and Restoration Association (IPCRA). Muirne has experience working in national and international museums with busy loan programmes and can advise on care of collections, exhibition installation and preventive conservation.

Projects to date include restoring and conserving paintings for private collectors, art insurers, picture dealers and museums in Ireland, Italy, Belgium and the United Kingdom, collections worked on include:
