Consultations
The first stage of any work will be an initial examination to establish the treatment options and estimate costings. Following the examination a Condition Report and treatment proposal are produced. The Condition Report addresses the physical condition of the work: materials and methods used in construction, present condition, and, importantly, how prior restoration, environment, and/or accident have altered or impacted the work. The Treatment Proposal will recommend treatment in a step-by-step outline and will provide a cost estimate. When treatment options are available, these will be outlined in the proposal.
During a consultation, treatment or preservation issues related to the object under review will be advised. If a straightforward treatment is recommended, it may be possible to provide the client with a written treatment proposal and estimated cost at the time of the consultation. In many cases an object may require a more thorough, studio-based condition assessment. If this is the case, the object will be examined and a written report on the examination and a treatment proposal will be sent to the client.
Potential projects can be viewed on site, where an initial treatment proposal can be made, without obligation.
